Love & Rocket - Patrick Palmer

How we will miss Jonty and Sacha, and their smiling ways behind the galley. Here are a few of the items that they served us over the many years that they were in residence:
Smoked haddock on bubble & squeak, Garlicky mushrooms on toast, Turkish eggs, eggs benedict, roasts of all descriptions, lemon tarts with crème fraiche, orange polenta cake, loaded fries, lemon roast potatoes, jerk chicken or cauliflower (similarly jerked), raspberry coulis, steak & mushroom pie, sticky toffee pudding, roast beef brisket with yorkshire pudding, lobster bisque with a foam reduction coulis etc etc etc and lots of others (how did I miss out the staples of cheesy chips and full Englishplus Chris Burke's pot of tea).
For a commercial premises, this would have been respectable for a UK sailing club, this is stratospheric and it was no wonder that WSC was the envy of the Dart18 circuit, and many others besides.
Most members might not be aware that the arrangement with Love & Rocket (J&S's company) was incredibly mutually agreeable they got our galley when we weren't racing/sailing, and provided 1st class catering when we were, regardless of profit/loss, numbers, seasonal variations etc. they also supplied catering for events such as presentation evenings, agms etc and did so at a very high standard with extremely competitive prices. The whole arrangement worked very well, and it will be an achievement if we are able to get a similar arrangement with a new supplier
It honestly was an active part of the sailing/racing experience that pre and post being on the water we would have ace food and very cheerful service. We will miss them and wish them a lot of luck in Midhurst where they will exchange feeding hairy arsed matelots for country squires and rock stars at Glastonbury. I believe they are still available though for events..
