Short on incident and a small fleet but two nice races on Sunday. Debs/Barry returned and won both in the D18s, a few lasers with Andy Ruffer and Archie Oakden (in that order) and Paul Craft in his D15, alone in the other cats category. Dave Goodwin/Vasco (sorry no surname, but presumably Da Gama wouldn't be too unlikely) appeared for their inaugural 2022 outing, and Chris Burke was also afloat after having an interesting year.
The series D18 results are advertised on the website which shows the eventual victors were Gilbert/Bob well done to you both. Nothing unusual about that result. Rob/Fi weren't around to race and so dented their chances (but still got second overall) and in any case I think it's pretty likely that Gilbert was so on fire in the first race that he would have probably beaten everybody a statement that doesn't stand up to any sort of analysis. No overall results for the monos (Andy Ruffer or Josh/Noah is my guess) and other cats (Paul Craft) but as ever the Warming Pan provided some good early racing and a nice way to get back into the swing of it.
We did have the fairly nerve shredding issue of whether rudders would survive the upwind leg inshore option, such was the outgoing tide, and a few were caught out by not being able to make the finish/mark 1 and had time consuming tacking to do.
How do we finish such a lacklustre report, I hear you ask? Well, don't be so judgemental, do it yourself, if you're so good at it etc etc. And of course the real way to finish is by smacking our lips at the memory of a rather splendid lemon tart as provided by Jonty it was even brulee'd, by god..
